Bro-In-Law Update, Pulmonary Oedema For Sqad & Others
9 Answers
I don't know where to start. I am near to tears a lot of the time and so angry.
I first posted at the beginning of April and we are no further forward. We were hoping that the next appt. at Jimmy's would bring clarity and waiting. B-in-Law did start to take his pain control properly, but it made no real difference and he is now on morphine patches and still in pain. He has lost 3 stones and eating is usually followed by vomiting, he can't keep too much water down either so his skin has dried and is flaking.
Then there was late notification that the appt. at Leeds would now be by telephone - this was on Monday. Result - they can't tell us anything, they don't know what is wrong, so carry on as we are until the fluid stops. Effectively, 'just keep on watching him deteriorate'.
Pain grew worse and worse and on Wednesday my sister took him in to Bradford R.I. and insisted they admit him to control the pain. This they have done. Our hopes now rest on a new, young doctor who seems to be good - and is interested. He's had all sorts of tests including a CT scan and was scheduled for a chest X-ray this morning.
So that's it so far - I feel disbelieving, as if I am watching a horror movie unfolding. :(

But I just want to say I am so sorry to read of the awful time your family is having, trying to find help and treatment for your brother in law.
Somewhat typical of many people's experience these days, sadly, and when it is applied to one of your own it is agonising.
I do hope your brother in law can find some ease from his suffering and the rest of the family can find peace.

Thank you all so very much. Yes, Sqad, I know what you mean - but it's the leaving him alone for all of us to struggle and none of his original blood tests showed cancer cells.
You, and everyone else, don't know how much you are helping, just by being around and understanding and listening.
Latest update, BiL (may as well call him by his name, Dave) is being kept in at the B.R.I., they have changed the painkillers and he is more comfortable and, also very important, is managing to swallow water and keep it down.
A bit of me still has fingers firmly crossed and some hope. annea - she spoke to the consultant on Monday by 'phone and was just told that they didn't know what was wrong and to wait until the fluid draining ceased.
You don't know how much each and every comment is appreciated.
Thank you all. He's a lovely chap, they just celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary last year.
