I hope someone can help.
I have searched NHS site and a few others, but cannot find an answer to my query.
I was prescribed Bisoprolol 5mg daily (to taken at 7 am) a couple of years back due to Atrial Fibrillation .
I have not had an incident since, but very occasionally , in the evening, I detect irregular pulse which only lasts a few seconds.
If , for example, the irregularity does not stop, is it OK to take 2.5mg as "pill in the pocker" or will this cause bradycardia ?

Sorry....I missed the point of your question. The added beats in the evening are nothing yourself to concern yourself about and I wouldn't take another Bisoprolol. I wouldn't do any harm but I cannot conceive that it would help. In my opinion, those added beats that you have for a few seconds at night are no big deal and not life threatening. You could have a...

I would suggest that you continue Bisoprolol 2mgms for the rest of your life. There must have been some underlying cause for your A.F and Bisoprolol will take the strain from your heart.

Don't worry about bradycardia, 2.5mgms is a small dose.

Thanks for quick reply.
I am permanently on 5mg daily already.
I would need permission from my GP to take an additional 2.5mg in the event of a small attack in the evening ?

You could have a "pill in the pocket" it wouldn't do any harm.........but I wouldn't.

That's of great help and put my mind at ease.
Thanks
I take 5mg of Bisoporol daily. Have been for last 13 years. I get extra heart beats sometimes, nothing to worry about. :-)

That's good to hear Patsy33. Thanks :)
Same here, Patsy.

Floko, I have posted before of the benefit of carrying a list of prescriptions at all times. If I did collapse how would paramedics/doctors know that I had taken more of any medication than has been prescribed?
I felt so awful on bisop
that I put up with the resting HR of 120

tablets of the devil ( Pharmacy from the fallen one)
personal opinion obviously
Peter, the good thing is we are still here to discuss it ;)

I always carry a list of my meds and I also have given permission to share my medical record which saves time should I end up in hospital .
I am taking Sqad's advice. Thanks all

If you have a smart phone, you can set up the drugs so that the paramedics can see them without having to unlock your phone.

I'm on the same dose 2.5 twice and day and GP permission to take a other 2.5 when necessary.  That's usually after my frequent panics or nightmares!  One Hospitsl felt that my AF was more connected to my anxiety than anything else.  My resting heartbeat varies between 60 and 70, but hasn't for a long time exceeded 100 and I can breathe  that down quite quickly

Sqad, the extra tablets do help me, perhaps just because of my mindset that they help.  I've been on bisoprolol a long time now.
