I have been given a 7 day course of the above for an infection of a wound on my shin.
About five minutes after each dose I am getting quite uncomfortable heartburn.
Is this a normal reaction, and what - if anything - can I do to stop it.
Thank you.

It is a known side effect.  Ask your GP if you should be given a different antibiotic

Take them with food (yes, yes, I know that the instructions tell you otherwise)

Thank you both :)

As sqad has said, food first then medication. Sometimes it's a good idea to take one at bedtime .

Do you take it with water? If    you do try taking it with milk instead.

I must be fortunate not to suffer from this side effect, having started a course of Flucoxacillin 2000mg a day and Doxycycline 100mg a day, the latter for 6 months. It is just the luck of the draw I suppose. ferlew I wish you better soonest.

Just to add, it may be my meds for hiatus hernia that keep the heartburn away !
