How long before Leicester Sq is full of bin bags and the Iceland trucks are full of bodies? I must admit they have surprised me, I thought it would take Labour longer than a few weeks to drag us back to pre TGL Britain!

How is Labour involved?

They caved over one pay demand, now everyone wants the same.

How is labour involved?  Are you serious?  Do you know who the Government is these days?

You are correct OG, just that one act is likely to push inflation out of control or if they refuse the other pay rises then strikes will stall the economy.  Add that to Robber Reeves tax raids and down she (the UK) goes.

Good old labour- and only 5 weeks in.

Bin men went on strike in 2022 as well, nothing to do with Labour then.

Whoosh!

And we're off!

5 weeks in Naomi, wait for 5 years.

Anone taking bets on when we go cap in hand again to the IMF?

"How is labour involved?  Are you serious?  Do you know who the Government is these days?"

It is unions and councils in Scotland and waste management is a devolved matter so I ask again, how is Labour and the UK government involved?

Welcome to the third world. No need to go there for colourful holidays, it's coming your way soon. 😃

C. //how is Labour and the UK government involved?//

You obviously don't get it: strike and you'll get what you want - just like the junior doctors did.

It's already here in many Cities Khandro.

Summer of discontent

*sits back enjoying the panicked fear mongering*

Scotland is devolved and this has nothing to do with the new Government in Westminster. Most of Scottish councils are run by the SNP or Tories (I think Labour have a couple out of 23).
The offer to the bin men has not been made by Starmer it has been made by COSLA a cross party association of Scottish Councils. Starmer is not involved anywhere in the negotiation with Trade Unions.

Yet another stupid thread from the AB extremists.

Is it possible to have a thread without silly, childish, words like 'extremist', which is meant as an insult, particulary given there is no extremism shown on this thread.

"Yet another stupid thread from the AB extremists."

What?

A stupid thread, perhaps (depends on your point of view).

But since when has holding a diffrent political opinion been worthy of being labelled an "extremist"? What's "extreme" about not liking or wanting a Labour government? I've noticed the term being bandied about at the drop of a hat recently. Does it go alongside the disgusting term "Tory scum"?

Just wait until they wave through the dropping of a requirement to provide minimum levels of service in key services legislation.
""The government on Tuesday said it had written to Whitehall departmental ministers, the first ministers of Scotland and Wales and metro mayors in England to make it clear the minimum service level measures would be axed.""

Education, Health, Transport, Energy, Local Authority Service employees and union officials are all forming a hasty battle plan to punish anyone stupid enough to work for a living. Same as it ever was. Right so far.

As its up here in Scotland, perhaps if the SNP use the money stolen off their own members and perhaps sell the £100,000 motorhome and the quarter of a million pound villa out in Portugal, then they might be able to afford the bin-mens pay rise.Just saying.

Things can only get better, they said.

On the one hand I can't help but feel a bit smug and 'you were told, and you've got what you wished for' but on the other I have a real fear about just how much SKS and his clowns are going to royally screw the country.
