It's funny the thoughts that come into the mind when you're sitting doing not much.

Yes I do, I used to watch it with my Grandad, who absolutely loved it. I remember we were one of the only ones to have a TV in the road. It was like a piece of furniture, it was so huge. The screen had closing doors and the cabinet was made of varnished wood.

along with Johnnie Morris - difft program

all that was wrong with the Beeb in the fifties - and Daktari - with clarence the cross eyed lion

oh but Johnnie Halliday was good.   - there is a singer in France called shonnie alliday ( twist again) and he was forced back on the road by the tax man at age 85

And, of course, Armand and Michaela Denis. - "Fortunately the lions found a more attractive meal amonst the scrub and settled down to dine. For the moment, at least, we were safe."

Fanny & Johnnie Craddock 😂

Yes, we didn't have a TV in those days but for some odd reason it was the one programme our neighbour thought "the children would like" and my brother and I were invited round there every week to watch it. It was a fascinating show.

Long before the Hass' the first tv show I saw was;

'Billy Bunter of Greyfriars School, a BBC Television show broadcast from 1952 to 1961. It was based on the Greyfriars School stories, written by author Charles Hamilton under the pen name Frank Richards.'

Bunter was played by Gerald Campion and many years later he ran a drinking club in a basement somewhere off Oxford Street which I frequented along with many friends & TV types.

Beat that! 🙂

Yes, now you remind me, I can recall being fascinated by those programmes.

For Khandro:

I remember Hans and Lottie.  I loved  Billy Bunter (Gerald Campion).  Still have some of the books and annuals.

OH used to go to a pub frequented by Johnny Morris - he carried on as a raconteur all evening , from his bar stool, by all accounts.

I really disliked Billy Bunter. Thought he was obnoxious. Can't remember Hans and Lotte Haas although I remember the names. I loved Johnny Morris though. Never understood the reason he was taken off the tv.

Robinson Crusoe - that theme

Billy Bunter wasn't supposed to be likeable, he was a sort of anti-hero who displayed characteristics which children find amusing & possibly secretly admire; being greedy, lazy and mischievous.

I only mentioned him as the first character I ever saw on TV not as a role model.

Could Boris be a re-incarnation of Bunter ?

francis durbridge thrillers - we were allowed to stay up for that

and only once TW3

Could Boris be a re-incarnation of Bunter ?

no Bunter achieved more

Could Boris be a re-incarnation of Bunter ?

The Owl of the Remive.  Tuck boxes and postal orders from home.

Yield to temptation, lift a PO, and you've moved from comedy to the Winslow Boy.
