I also saw on a tv programme, red/blue light therapy is supposed to help...

Dianette is great. There's also topical antibiotics (eg Zirtek) - personally I think they're rubbish, or ordinary antibiotics for your skin (e.g erithromycin), which are OK.
The best thing I've tried is Dr Hauschka products. They're quite expensive but last for ages, and really do clear your skin up (whether you're male or female!) in a matter of weeks.
Steer clear of acne washes etc - they'll just irritate your skin, and dry it out. It took me years to stop using that crap, and once I did, the spots disappeared.

Quinoderm cream is quite good, you can get it over the counter at the pharmacy. As berylium says, Dianette is fantastic, really sorted my skin out. Avoid clearasil, oxy etc they are overpriced and very harsh on your skin. I find gentle exfoliation helps so I use Witch exfoliating wash it is really fresh and does not strip the skin. I dont really advise using sunbeds at all, but they may be useful occasionally ie for a special occasions. I found even 1 session helped my spots clear up.
