'Wasp Bar' trap
3 Answers
I was at Whipsnade yesterday and around the cafe outside seating area, hanging from the trees, were these plastic bottle type things called a 'Wasp Bar' - to trap wasps (and flies, it seemed!). I have tried to google this but can't seem to find anything (although have found similar things). Does anyone know where to buy these?

Half fill an empty jam jar with water and a couple of teaspoons of jam..squirt a tad of washing up liquid into it and cover with foil and an elastic band ..make a hole in the foil. Place these at strategic points in your garden .The little dears will go after the sweet stuff and drown in the gooey mess.Empty plastic drinks bottles serve the same purpose if you haven't got a ready supply of old jam jars!
Just cut the tops off and put a couple of stones in the bottom to weight them down.

You should be able to pick up one of these wasp traps easy enough at one of the larger garden centres, I've seen a few about recently. I bought one last year to hang under my apple tree but did'nt bother to use it because of a distinct lack of wasps last year but this year they seem to be making a come back, I'am told orange squash is a good bait to use in them.
