My mate recently had sex with a girl, the condom broke and now he's worrying about STD's. Obviously he should be tested, but he has questions that I can't answer for him, like...should he go to his doctor OR get an appointment at a sexual health clinic, he knows his doctor personally so he's embarassed. When they test him what will they test? Urine? Saliva? Blood? All of the above? How long does it take to get results and how long should he wait since the incident to ensure a correct result? How much does it cost?
Also do they test for everything or just what you ask for? And finally he's worried about HIV (of course) I found info on the internet for him, that it's harder for a man to contract it than a woman due to the mans "plumbing" is this so?
Oh and finally!! The girl is against the pill and the morning after pill (not suprised really, I've read what it does to womens bodies) and once again we've read on the net that since this was the day after she finished her period, it's unlikely that she will fall pregnant because women aren't massively fertile until the 14th day(ish) of her cycle...is that so also?
There is a huge amount of evidence to suggest women actually ovulate many times each month not just the once and even if the old theory was correct a woman can get pregnant at any time during the month except the days when she is actually bleeding.
anyway. i t would be better for your friend to go to a gum clinic (special clinic) he can be tested immediately for the bog standard stuff (they will take swabs probably)
hiv test needs to be done 3 months after, as the virus might not convert for 3 months. Hiv is a blood test ... not sure how long it takes for results ... maybe a week?
they can text you your rsults now (not hiv)
