Hi, i previously used a contraceptive pill prescribed for my skin. Will doctors in uk do this? or must i ask for it for contraceptive reasons? The pill has been the only medication form that has helped me with my skin (spots etc). and does NHS cover this?.. if not how much could the " pill" cost?
the name of it is Dianette. you can get it on the NHS and it doesnt have to be for contraceptive reasons. although it wouldnt hurt if u threw that one in when u ask for it?he cant say no then! good luck x
According to the nurse at my GP's surgery, you shouldn't go onto Dianette for longer than three months, as there's an increased risk of Deep Vein Thrombosis.
I was on dianette for 4 years, came off for 6 months, acne came back so am now back on the pill, been four months now but skin hasn't cleared up yet :-(
i was given dianette for PCOS reasons but when i went to get it from the pharmacy they said that if i wasnt using it for contraception reasons then i would have to pay - so i said it was for contraception reasons (even though it was for PCOS) - total joke. That was a few years ago as i dont take it anymore.
