Ipswich turning bad?
39 Answers
What a horrible week its been here, three prostitutes getting murdered, one person dead from a gun shot wound in a nightclub, three others shot and one stabbed. I had to go to my local sorting office today to get a recorded delivery and saw the copper standing outside of the nightclub in question and it had all the 'police' tape around it, sent chills down my spine! All in the matter of two odd weeks, whats going on!!!

Dark days indeed for Ipswich at the moment. I don't know the area at all, but I've never thought of it as a particular crime hotspot before. Still, I guess serial killers do tend to get the headlines. Let's hope they catch the freak quickly.

Didn't know about the nightclub incident. The prostitutes thing was scary enough. Mind you, petty criminals can get on with it as they wish now since the whole of Suffolk's meagre resources will be taken up with the prostitute murders/nightclub do. All leave cancelled etc!!!!!!
Apparently police are keeping an "open mind" as to whether there is a serial killer on the loose. 2 murders are linked, a third has yet to be but has similarities (at least in sofar as the details that have been publicly released). At least one further girl is missing. HOW MANY MURDERS DOES IT TAKE TO BECOME A SERIAL KILLER?! Perhaps I shall email Suffolk HQ and tell them to look at AB. Some of the correspondents on here seem to have some amazingly good theories while the police keep an open mind. Other than that it is surely a massive coincidence for 3 working girls to be found naked in the countryside within 8 days of each other?!

These murders are an utter tragedy. I've just watched an interview on Newsnight with a prostitute in Ipswich who is a heroin addict. She knows it's a risk to be on the street, but she is too desperate not to.
She said she knew some of the women who were killed and you could hear the fear and sadness in her voice.
How cowardly is it to pick members of society that the killer knows will not be missed and how sad is it that we as a society allow that situation to arise? Remember, these women are verbally and physically abused by men even when they are not in the in the headlines.

Theres five now (three that were murdered and two that are mssing), although the name the police released as missing this afternoon might have spoken to a friend today so she might be ok, but the fifth name being released is horrible. I know they're only targetting prostitutes (or so it may seem at the mo) but me and my friends are worried about going out as the club we go to isn't far from London Road (where the red light district is)
Well, I would hardly call it a quiet market town, although I've never had it down as a particularly crime-ridden place.
Katangel, don't assume you're safe just because you're not a prostitute. When a woman's out walking late at night it's often hard to tell whether she's 'working' or just on her way home after a night out.
My son lives there with his girlfriend. She works at a town centre pub, often late. Fortunately my son meets her from work after her late shifts, but it doesn't stop me worrying about her.
Perhaps if the prostitution were decriminalised, these girls would be a little safer and more willing to come forward and help the police.

yer what I dont get is the paper says another girl has been missing since saturday but she has spoke to her friend within the last 24hrs?? how does this make her still missing. and barmaid thats Exactly what I put on other question down the page, that it is sad when no-one cares enough to miss them. Anyway back to the question, whoever this person is, they may have also targeted Norwich aswell. It is just coincidence about the stabbing and shooting, unfortunately this goes on a lot now. Most of the other citys in England have turned to this kind of crime it wont be long till Suffolk and Norfolk will be the same.
Yes, an awful thing to happen to some of the most vulnerable young women in society! I imagine that their lives are sh1tty enough without all this going on! I hope that the killer is caught soon, before any more innocent women are murdered! My heartfelt sympathy to the loved ones of the poor girls who have died!
