Free prescriptions in Wales

I've just read in the paper that the Welsh are shortly to get free prescriptions for medicines. This is so unfair....why can the Welsh get this and not the English? (By the way, this is NOT a dig at the good people of Wales)

Sorry Crete, I didn't mean to omit the Scots & Irish but I don't know what their prescription prices are and so couldn't include them in my mini rant!
Thanks for the link Battersby, it made interesting reading.
It annoys me as most of my family (including me) have to have prescription medicines for life and it costs us a small fortune.
Battersby, what are the house prices like in Wales???

I don't think the majority of people in Scotland and Wales would vote for complete independance, they did a small poll in Wales last week and the vast majority want it to stay as it is, remember the Welsh assembly hasn't got that much power, if London says jump they still ask how high.

I have never understood why someone like me is entitled to free prescriptions ~ I have an underactive thyroid and because my prescription is considered 'vital for my quality of life' I get any other prescription free too.

Yet someone with Cystic Fybrosis, or an Angina sufferer etc has to pay for theirs?

I cannot see the reasoning...
