Hi, I have just come down with a cold and i use a cross trainer every morning and eveing. Is it advisable to ease up when i am feeling under the weather or should i just carry on? I went on this morning and felt fine while i was on it but was sneezing and sniffing again once i was off! Any advice appreciated, thanks.

You should ease up a bit when you have the cold and give your body time to recover. Try skipping the exercise for a few days, as pushing yourself too hard may result in the cold lasting longer
i would say if you are working out morning AND evening then yes your doing too much.
you shouldnt be doing it twice in one day every day.
Your body needs to recover, thats probably why your immune system in playing up.
Whilst you have a virus/germ, working out will make it worse.

I am only doing 15 minutes in the morning and then again in the evening - running 5k each time Is this too much then? I have only had the cross trainer for about 3 weeks but have really enjoyed it and it hadn't seemed like i was doing too much. Thanks for the help so far x
5km in 15 minutes is some going, no wonder you're ill !!
Question Author
Is 5km in a 15 minute session really that much? It really doesn't feel like it, you have me worried now! Are there any fitness instructers or personal trainers out there that can give me some advice as to how much exercise is too much? Thanks.
Nonsense!! Exercise will not make you ill and its not that excessive. Ease up until you are over your cold, when you are ill your body needs rest.
Yes I agree, if you are training so frequently your body will need time to recover in any case.
