trying to swot up on diabetes. Ive been on a few web sights to learn more info, but none of them tell me what i need to know. If you have D T 1 does it mean that you cant consume any type of sugar whatsoever (SUCROSE GLUCOSE, LACTOSE, ETC) Surely if you have insulin every day then would this be safe to do so????

The carbs are broken down into sugars but utilised slowly. Simple sugars will cause blood sugar level to rise too quickly and should be avoided as much as possible. Diabetics have very varied regimes with regards to insulin. Well controlled diabetics often have just two doses of long acting insulin per day whereas someone with poor control may take a dose of short acting insulin before each meal with a long acting insulin taken once or twice a day as a background.

pharmacist wont let me sell to diabetics. The link that you gave me says on step 7 (eating well to limit sugary foods) says that sugar can be used in foods and in baking. Im sorry to be a pain! so all in all what you say is that sugars shouldn.t be used as this may cause blood sugars to rise quickly. I am very grateful for your responses thankyou once again x
