I've always understood that you shouldn't, because limbs swell at higher altitudes and the plaster cast will constrict the limb, and may lead to DVT. You should check with your doc, and the airline and your insurers.

You can, but you will be more at risk of DVT due to the immobility of that limb. How long a flight are you looking at?
