Threadworms in adults

I have suffered from threadworms throughout my childhood and reoccuring in my adult life. I am possibly the most cleanly, fussy person you could wish to meet, always washing my hands with soap etc etc. Is there anything which can be done to alleviate the problem, I have tried chemist remedies such as Pripsen.

Are you 100% its threadworm and not Piles (or haemorrhoids) commonly cause itching around the back passage.

If i remember correctly, you're supposed to take one tablet and then another 2 weeks later to kill off any newly hatched worms. Is it not worth taking an repeat dose 2 weeks after the last tablet and then another one after that just in case any stray eggs are hatching out and not getting treated ?

It is important to treat other people with whom you live (and yes I realise this can be embarrasing) otherwise others might be reinfecting you. Check with your pharmacist as there are more effective remedies than Pripsen on the market without prescription. After treatment, make sure you launder all your bed linen, towels and night wear. Showering in the morning after you get up is also a good idea as any eggs which have been laid in the night are washed away before they can get into your system. Use a nail brush to scub your nails and DON'T bite 'em.
