Contraception advice! Impant ??
I am planning on having the contraceptive implant fitted next month and just wondered what experiences people have had. Iwas told that it is the most commonly used form of contraception at the moment and its about the only thing I havent tried. I dont want the pill as I always forget to take it, the mirena coil was brilliant but i found it started to feel uncomfortable after my second child and th einjection isnt an option. Oh and the cap is messy and a waste of time i thought.... what do you think??

The fitting is painless, have local then implant is fitted,my arm was sore for a couple of days after and i got a bruise. I got my prescription from boots but they had to order it in took a couple of days. Don't be put off by the size of the implement ,it looks huge!! Hope this helps :o)
I may be speaking out of turn coz im a bloke but here goes.
My partner had one fitted last year and was told to give it a try for six months, she had it removed after 3.The reason's she had it removed was sore breasts and what she thought was quite a big lump under the skin.I know it effects different people in different ways but I noticed a definate change in her personality, she started to show a shortness in temper which she never had before. It wasn't vast but it was noticable. These side effects may have dissapeared if we gave it the full 6months trial but decided not to due to the amount of discomfort she was feeling. When she asked for it to be removed she was given quite a hard time about it from her GP,not the "just ask and we'll remove it" as promised !
Have you tried a cold shower ! Only joking :)

I was told that they 'can' remove it after 3 months but prefer not to until at least 6 months for some reason. I already suffer from PMT which is why the mood swings side of it bothers me. I dont think my boyfriend could cope with me if i got any worse!!! Its about time they brought out the male pill if you ask me!!!ha ha!!
Not had it myself but friends have and weight gain is common. Sorry to be a killjoy and dont forget some people have no probs. The reason they dont like to take it out is that the symptoms can take 6 months to settle and they are very expensive to keep popping them in and taking them out so if you really dont want to keep it be firm. It is best if you can wait 6 months but i agree this is a long time to feel crap.
Do you want more children? is MrElsie having the snip an option.

Funny you should mention that as I have just suggested that to him.... he said it will hurt! Typical man! Not sure about more children though?? I have decided that perhaps the mirena again might be the answer - have read some other stuff on the internet about the implant and its ALL negative - there must be some truth in it. Even with the pill at least you can just stop or try another one if its causing any problems!!
