Treatment for OCD in dogs

I know that the main active ingredients for treatment of OCD are Glucosamine and Chondroitin. I can buy "human" versions via internet but am concerned if any of the additives are harmful to dogs. e.g. are the following safe - small quantities of microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stereate, and dicalcium phosphate?

Why not just get some specifically for dogs?

That way you know they are safe, and I don't think the human ones are that much cheaper.

I don't know anything about OCD xwordaddict but old Shaney is very arthritic now and I presume OCD is also a bone thingy .I have had really good results from Johnsons 4 Joints for dogs and cats .
It contains Glucosamine sulphate ,Chrondotin. Vit C , trace elements and amino acids .It's 15 quid a bottle from the pet shop but I daresay you can get it cheaper on line somewhere.
I put a tablespoonful on his food everyday and the results are good ..he is nowhere near as stiff in his joints as he was.The lady at the pet shop told me not to give him the human version of Glucosamine ..but I don't know really ..perhaps she just wanted to sell me the 4 Joints!
But whatever it is ....it's worked !

I gave one of my dogs Green Lipped Mussel (from Holland & Barrets) and within 7/10 days she was her usual puppy like self. We were amazed at the difference in her.

Myself and a number of friends had excellent results with Cosequin. The vets also recommend it as it doesnt upset the stomach like some other medication. Cheapest place is ebay in the states - can usually get a bottle of 500 tabs for the same price in dollars as in pounds over here for 250 tabs. We used to buy them in bulk and share them.

we have got a gsd vet told us to give her double the human dose for two weeks then reduce to normal human dose every day she has been on them a year now and is doing well
