is tobacco more deadly than heroin
20 Answers
it has been said that heroin in its purest form has no harmful side affects and its actually the prohibition of heroin that causes the problems that we associate with it. apart from chronic addiction and upset stomach it seems that it is actually quite a tame drug and its only when users are forced underground that the true problems occur. doctors make the best dealers and certainly dont ask you to share a needle.
on the other hand it is also said that 1 in 3 tobacco smokers will die because of it and a lot of them will accept their child smoking it in their late teens knowing it has a 1 in 3 chance of killing them
how wierd
p.s i have never taken heroin in any form except medicinely and i only pose this q as food for thought after reading oakleafs thread.

It is extremely addictive, with a brief tolerance level, and much harder to give up than tobacco. It is also deadly, of course, as it will eventually kill if not treated. Death from smoking can take a long time, death from heroin occurs within a shorter time.
If heroin was completely legal and freely available, it would cause widespread health and social problems, as happened in China under the British opium policy.

Hi dilf, no harmful side effects eh, whos kidding who, just some of the side effects if addicted to it, the cost, the loss of self respect, the stealing from anybody to feed this disgusting habit, the violence it can bring when desperate for a fix, it tears families apart,my sisters heart is breaking because of her sons addiction to this crap,it is evil and the scum that supply it should recieve the most massive dose of it and die in agony.
I do agree that it should be prescribed by a Dr, so that the dealers were forced out of business, they are far more dangerous than the weak people that take this crap.

Does it matter which of these are the most deadlist, the outcome is the same in the long run.
Heroin and tame ''do not'' go together, and i can only agree with raysparxs post, taking a drug in its purest form will still have its side affects.
I have no time for Smokers {selfish B's} & Druggies {who bring untold problems to ''ALL''}

hang on a mo. i respect no 2 abers more than laurance and raysparks but the point i was making was that the prohibition of heroin was what is causing the problems that ray mentions . there is a doctor in plymouth who is allowed to treat her addicts with diamorphine giving them what they need each day thus enabling them to work and live normal[ish] lives paying tax and raising their kids instead of theiving and sharing needles. i believe her success rate was 27 out of 29 were clean within a year
another interesting point is two penitentiarys banned smoking in prison and stopped the peddling of all drugs overnight due to the fact that tobacco became far more profitable a commodity and the people smuggling it into prison were not breaking the law if caught in possession

Hi cazz, thank you, he is now on methadone, trying to kick the habit, I do say trying cos like an alcholic, he will foerever be one step away from ruin, please don't ever tell me this crap has no harmfull side effects, it is evil, my sister will live in fear for as long as she is alive that he will go back ,what happens if he can't handle a situation, will he escape into this world of make believe again, i would not bet against it, he is weak,it is pathetic to see a man cry because he is scared of what he is doing, but still he does it,knowing the pain it brings, the fix is the most important thing in his life, sod the people that love them.
Hi laurence you have summed it up, thank you.

Hi dilf, posted at the same time roughly, yes if only Drs could, or maybe it is would do this it could be handled properly, and they could come off of it, but most users stay underground,in this filthy world of violence and pushers, I think what you have stated is fantastic, pity it isn't looked into being done more, but thanks for raising this subject, cherers dilf, take care, Ray

Apologies if i came across at having ago at you, i was only pointing out that there is harmful affects in all drugs full stop.
I remember the advert ex-amount of years ago on drugs with the saying ''JUST SAY NO''.
Three ''SIMPLE'' words which ex-amount of people find hard to digest, most drug takers i believe think that they are in contol of themselves, the amount of cannabis smokers who tell me that they are causing no harm and it has no side affects, plus i'm not in a safety critical job so no one else is at harm is unbelievable, they really are away with the fairies if they believe this, recreational my ar$e, drain on societys resources more like it.
End of rant

i HATE drug addicts........ but its more fear than hate i have come to terms with now.
i have never taken drugs in my life but i have seen the downfall of many men (and women) to this awful addiction and at the moment we have a couple of bag heads who live above my place of work.
they themselves are fine whilst they are "normal" but at night time you can watch young kids jumping over the steel fencing on the yard and going into the flat to get their fix?
i dont suppose you remember when i posted early this year late last year when i saw a girl who was about 12 hanging around with these people??...........it made me feel sick and makes me wonder if my kids will be strong enough to not follow there mates into sampling this sh1t!!!!
ps........i am an ex smoker and i would rather smoke that have to put a deadly chemical in my arm, foot or wherever they can find a vien??
good question dilf?? and why dont you respect me like you do laurence and ray??????? ;(

Heroin is the derivative of the opium poppy which has been chemically purified using ether and some other chemicals. It is processed to become what users ought to be getting sold, unfortunately as dilf says, there is a lot of household chemicals, cocoa, ajax, things like that added to it which make it more devastating to your body. I took it for about 3 years, didn't do me any harm, didn't take it all the time, didn't get addicted, didn't steal and didn't need to go into rehab. Most of the people that do become addicts are sick but I don't think that it is caused by the heroin, I strongly feel that the heroin is an excuse to spiral out of control and take away the pain of mental illness/ anguish and that they need help and love and patience to get over it. They don't need to be labelled and demonised by the rest of society they need help to get over their mental anguish that heroin lets them forget about. Tobacco is a much harder vice to give up than heroin and it probably will be the death of me.
Here s the thing, heroin is an excellent pain killer and used accordingly can help many on a short term basis supplied by a proffesional of course.
Methadone has been prescribed for many years and many think its harder to come off of than heroin it self.
As i have mentioned before i have given up many hard drugs relatively easilly but tabacco for me is a killer ,quite litteraly.
I do not smoke around my child ....ever....or allow anybody else to and to be honest i can go a few days with out but when the craving gets a hold i become a miserable git until i have a roll up!!
Now the other thing is i know a 'junkie' or 'filthy druggie' as others like to call them that has jacked up for over 27 years he does nt steal works very hard to pay for his drugs,(which personally i think is a bit sad but who am i to judge)
He will of course probably have a heart attack by the time he is fifty but that was the choice he made ,so, the point is to my ramblings, tabacco really does nt have a purpose unlike opiots. If people are going to be stupid enough to take something so potent on there own heads be it,they no the score... and fair play screecheeboy but i do think your mental state was probably a lot stronger than most you were quite lucky or may be strong enough to not let the demon possess you.

I have two nephews who were on heroin, one is dead at 32 years old, he was found in his sqaut in his vomit and filth. The other one who is 30 was lucky enough to go to a rehabilitation clinic/farm for some time and is now clean. During the time they were on heroin they stole from their parents and friends to get the next fix bringing hearbreak to all the family. So please don't tell me it has no harmful side effects. Who's kidding who?
Skreecheeboy, is so correct in what he says, the ones that become truly addicted are sick or weak and trying to hide from something, it is not there fault, they go into this little world of make believe for as long as the drug works, they come out of it, the thing they are running from is still there staring at them so guess what, they take some more, and off we go again, they have no pride, no self esteem and we all look down on them, but they need help, they have got to want to be helped though, without that like an alcholic, only one end. Death.
Hi dilf, Hope you don't think for one minute I was having a pop at you yesterday, because if I come across like that I apologise, I never meant to, I have a lot of respect for you and your views, pity not more people looked at this very good question, ask what they had for dinner you get 100+ answers, such is life, take care dilf, Ray
the truth is all recreational drugs and a lot of medical ones destroy families to legalise all drugs would be courting disaster as you would get thousands more addicts overnight . but i do think that the government would be better off letting the medical community say how the problem is treated. i think that if a heroin addict were given a prescribed amount of heroin each day by their doctor in a matter of weeks they could be living a normal life free of crime and associating with criminals to get what they crave and slowly week by week at their own pace begin to wean themselves of it. thus removing the criminal element from the process and freeing a large amount of the police force to catch proper baddies.
raysparks's nephew is probably a lovely young man who would never under normal circumstances dream of breaking the law and look what he has been forced to do because he has to .
there but for the grace of god go i
6 weeks ago my son was at a friends house when 4 of his mates smoked pot a week later 2 of these kids were in a position to try a slug of stolen methadone though neither boy had mixed in those circles and there were no addicts present- result 2 great kids[17 +18] hospitalised ,coma , jellybrained. it will be a long time if ever before both boys and their families recover
anyway lets lighten up and talk about what we dreamed last night
and rugelyboy - you have got me on the turn mate i get tingly when i see your name- is that respect enough

Hello dilf, Have just come across your question when catching up what i've missed. Interesting suggestion but let me explain why it wouldn't work. You are probably aware that heroin is a highly physiological addictive drug that produces an adverse physical reaction when withdrawn. The body over time grows tolerant to it, and herein lies the problem. After a while most addicts will fail to experience a high with it but will be taking it merely to offset the physical reaction and feel normal for a few hours. The trouble is, because of the increasing toleration to the drug, there has to be an increase in the amount administered to achieve the same effect. Therefore at some point this, depending on the individual, will reach a fatal dose and no doctor is going to take that risk. It is why, despite being the strongest painkiller available, it cannot be used long term. It is also the reason why many heroin users die as they gradually increase dosage to obtain a feeling of normality.
