Can *REALLY* mouldy food ever be dangerous? We have a food waste recycling box in our kitchen and a bigger one outside, the idea being that you put biodegradable food waste in the little bin and transfer it to the big one, for collection once a week.

Well last night I thought I'd empty the little one and it turns out that no-ones been using it because there has been half a loaf of bread in there for long enough to turn completely green (I think its been in there for about 3 weeks!). I didn't even touch it, but when I opened the little box a pretty impressive cloud mushroomed out and I got a decent 'face-full', of which I assume was mould spores.

Cheers, MrP

It won't harm you, pure Penicillin. before it was discovered, sailors and others knew that mouldy bread helped cure VD, but didn't know why, they used to eat it if they got a dose, so I think your safe for the time being.
