My jack russel cross whippet has a smashed pelvis one side only ball and socket joint intact, the options are plating or confining to cage for 3-6 months and wait and see! Has anyone's pet had this problem and is the dog able to lead a quality doggy life afterwards?

Sorry I can not offer any advice, but what an awful situation for you and your dog. I have a whippet cross and can only imagine what a worry you are in. Will keep my fingers crossed for you and your dog.
A friends cat was run over by a car and the same thing happened. Tammie was kept in cage rest for a couple of months, assisted to move outside for toiletting, etc. then she gradually came right although she had a limp with the damaged leg.
