I have a cold sore and I need to know how to get rid of it fast. It has dried up now but I can't seem to get it to go away. It is all red and bumpy. Its is on my lip stops just below my lip kinda on my chin. I can't seem to get it to heal. I use creams and stuff but it wont heal, Help!
Try dabbing some witch hazel on it - you can get it in a chemist's. Don't waste your money on the fancy branded stuff, witch hazel as it it works well.
ee yuk! you poor soul - unless anyone has had them they don't realise just how painful they are.
If you get one again, and I hope you don't, I find the best way to get rid of them quickly is... When it starts to blister stick a needle in it and drain it. It hurts like heck but does seem to get rid faster. Now it'sdried up a bit don't put cream on it as that keeps it wet, try the witch hazel or any spirit i.e. surgical/vodka
Thank you for the help. I am not even sure it was a cold sore. It might have been a fever blister or canker sore. I am still trying to get it to heal. Do you think that anitbiotic ointment will help it heal or just make it worse? I keep putting chap stick on it but that just dries up too fast. A friend told me to get a vitamin E capsule and break it open and put that on it. Geezzz I hate this so much. Its not so much the pain but the way it looks. I don't want anyone to see me. At work all my customers keep looking at me like I am dirty or something. I just want to heal and go away fast!
hi alc, i've suffered with these blighters for years - usually when stressed. aciclovir is better than any other creams potions as it's anti-viral. you can buy cheap generic tubes now instead of paying 6 for a tube of zovirax.
i've found that the best thing is the compeed plasters. put them on immediately and not only do they hide the blister but they help it heal quicker and stop it getting infected. i had a job interview last year and low and behold - 1 popped up the day before. the compeed plaster made me feel much better as they hide them so well.
typically i find that they take 2 weeks to completely disappear - know this isn't what u want to hear tho!
