cats teeth

my cat has just had his teeth cleaned because of tar tar build up,he had a broken tip off one of his fangs which he has had or three years which has never bothered him he has alway been a big eater.but when i picked him up from the vet they had also taken that tooth away.this was a week ago.within 2 days he had gone off his food i had taken him back to the vet whom checked his mouth to find it all full of pus she took the 2 stitches and cleaned it up and gave him another antibiotic injection he picked up bye the next day and started to eat but is again not eating he seems to want to but when i put the food down he licks it and walks away .he has been sick twice only flem.but i cant help thinking why take the tooth out as now he is loosing weight and is not a happy cat,how long is this going to go on for ,has anyone out there had this problem with their cat.he just seems to be loosing interest infood ive tried tempting him with alsorts .he takes a few small bits and then leaves the rest.i want my cat back to normal again he also does alot of gulping iam also giving him water by suringe as he does not drink ither.HELP! please

Sounds like he has an abscess, and the tooth may have been really bad for the vet to have taken it out. He probably doesnt feel like eating if he has an abcess - you are right to ensure he has some water, so keep up with the sryringe. You could try him with some pilchards or sardines as they are very tempting for cats, you could even try and smash it up and try putting some in a syringe too, but if he doesnt pick up tomorrow I would take him back to the vet as he may need a course of antibiotics.

thanks jules 77 for getting back so promp,he last saw the vet on friday night so i dont think its an abscess .she took the stitches out and cleaned it and said it would now drain it.ihave just given him some boiled chicken he would only eat some of it if i threw it on the floor .i will try to get him to eat some more later.if hes no better then i will have to take him back to the vet,he so scared of people +the vet i hate having to take him back.will let you know how he gets on.
