labyrinthitis and driving

I once had labyrinthits many years ago. I have since lost my motorway confidence sometimes i think cars on the otherside are on my side and driving towards me. And I cant seem to do more than 60miles without thinking i am going to have a major crash. I am ok on local roads, but as soon as they get longer and wider I panic. Is this to do with labyrinthitis or is it a coincidence

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.The norm for Labyrinthitis (Lab) is to last between 3 and 8 weeks and then disappear without so much of a trace, although some people can suffer the symptoms for months or years. Inner ear dizziness is different to the �normal� dizziness most people have experienced at some point and can give feelings of drunkenness and alteration of perception and what is known as �marshmallow feet�.
As said above, it could be panic attacks, but if it is possible that it could be the ongoing effects of Lab then you shouldn�t really be driving at all, since a lot of factors can enhance the symptoms of Lab, such as being tired or focussing for long periods, as well as loss of confidence and self esteem.
You may find going to your GP for a once over is the best way forward, but in the meantime take a peak at a few of these links:
