Inmate cut penis off with razor

A prisoner at HMP Bristol has been treated for deep laceration wounds after cutting off his penis with a razor blade. The inmate who is serving an 18-month sentence for possession of a knife, was found by wardens on Sunday morning. Prison officials said the incident was "extremely serious". The Ministry of Justice said the man, who was not on suicide watch, had since been returned to the prison, after receiving treatment in hospital. A prison service spokeswoman said: "We can confirm a prisoner at HMP Bristol has seriously self-harmed. "The prisoner was treated in hospital and has now returned to the prison." Suicide attempt or mentally ill?

Although I don't personally have one, I am in no doubt about the affection that most (if not all) men have for theirs, so I would assume that he was mentally ill!

Surely you need a chainsaw to do the job effectively. or is it just me? lol

has to have mental issues. Chopping off your tool would not be the best option for a fast effective death.

mental most defonatly...i know them places must bee mind numbing but to go to them extremes with only an 18mnth sentence to serve must equal serious mental problems surely

When you think about the actual act of cutting off a penis with nothing but a disposable razor blade it makes you realise that this man was one determined crazy man!!! It can't have been easy to do with all the blood making it slippery and the fact that the blade would go fairly blunt pretty quickly. He is actually lucky he didn't die in the time it took him to chop it off.

If it was a suicide attempt, it does seem a rather difficult, time-consuming and (presumably) extremely painful way to go about it. Mental illness it must indeed be.
