epicondylitis

I was wondering if anyone can help I've been diagnosed with medial and lateral epicondylitis in both elbows, which has now led to a diagnosis of chronic pain syndrome. There is nothing in family history, or my own history to suggest it is a congenital problem - the only thing it appears likely to have been is a car crash a few years ago where I was stationary and rear ended by a juggernaut - I saw it coming and foolishly braced against the steering wheel(but I've been told because noone has heard of this happening it can't be the case - but there is nothing in xrays, or even when i had the surgery to suggest it is congenital). I've had steroid injections/ops on each elbow/physio/worn splints/had ultrasound. All to no avail - its taking over my life, I can't do anything I used to enjoy ...I'd like my life back - I take so many painkillers I'm now on medication for IBS - can anyone suggest anything - all comments much appreciated. Thanks Octavius - Answerbank was pretty much my last try, before taking Crambo's advice, tho I'll be using vodka rather than tequila!
I will have a look at that link though, in case there is something none of the docs I have seen has thought of. Thanks again, and I'm sorry I sounded such a moaner!

have they checked to see if you have a trapped nerve? I had an epicondylectomy last year and they discovered that my ulnar nerve was trapped. It took ages to sort, my was from the result of breaking it and putting it in plaster when i was 13, i was 24 when they finally operated and touch wood haven't had any problems with it. They wouldn't take me seriously and kept saying that there was nothing wrong, one doctor suggested i gave up my job as a waitress at the time so i wouldn't have to use my arm!! It took numerous visits back and forth to the hospital. In the end i demanded a second opinion with another consultant and he operated within weeks, if you haven't had one, get a second opinion. I can sympathise with you, its very painful. Best of luck x x x
