Microgynon 30 Contraceptive Pill Side Effects
3 Answers
I was wondering if someone (possibly even a doctor) could advise me please.
I started taking the above contraceptive pill nearly 3 weeks ago. Since then I have felt rather depressed and sad. I have no real reason to feel like this, and it's making me pretty blue. I can only pinpoint it to this change in my daily life.
I understand that depression is a possible side-effect of this pill. Has anyone else experienced the same? I'm not sure which pill I should move to as Microgynon keeps my weight down (I'm 8.5 stone) and keeps my skin clear (luckily I never suffer from spots) so as you can understand I don't want to go onto a pill that'll make me put on weight and get spots!
To descibe a little better how I'm feeling, I feel lonely, down, miserable, anti-social, picky, easy-to-wind-up, touchy.....It's horrible! I feel so a social retard and I want to go back to my normal bubbly self. I have a wonderful boyfriend but I'm not sure how much of it he can deal with!
Thanks for any advice xx

In those two years I changed into quite a moody person, I was emotional and cried all the time and went right off sex.
Whether it was to do with the microgynon, i don't know, but I changed pills a couple of years ago and feel alot better now.
I'm now on Marvellon, which they prescribe to people with bad skin because it's good for getting rid of spots. I haven't put on any weight at all since I went on it. The thing with the pill is that it just tends to increase your appetite, so aslong as you watch what you eat you should be fine.
I'd say give marvellon a go, as I felt the same as you when I was on microgynon and was also worried about the skin/weight thing.
