Just in time for Christmas, I have developed a small ulcer on the side of my tongue which is making eating and talking painful. I love doing both so need advice quickly - it is Christmas Eve!

The absolute best thing is Gengigel mouthwash - unlike others, that seem reallly harsh, it coats your mouth and soothes the ulcers (you can get it at some chemists - with it being last minute I'd ring round to check for stockists before heading out). It really takes the sting out and helps them heal faster. And if you're really desperate I find a squirt of Chloraseptic or another throat numbing spray directly on to the ulcer takes the pain away temporarily (long enough to enjoy your Christmas dinner!).
Hope it's cleared up soon & merry Christmas!

I sympathise with you deanna,I have a large ulcer in the middle-left of my tongue, another on the right where it catches my teeth all the time and another right on the tip.I also have one on the gum near my top right wisdom tooth
:-( As you can imagine i'm not able to eat anything. I have spoken to the pharmacist and he told me there isn't much I can do about them other than wait for them to go on their own.

Hi SRH, Rollo, daffy654 and bigmamma.
Just been out and bought bonjela and Gengigel. Tried the bonjela which tastes lovely and seems to be helping. Am about to use the Gengigel. To all fellow sufferers, I give you my sympathy, and hope you are painfree very soon. I have been informed that this condition could also be a sign of more serious things, so should be investigated if it doesn't improve quickly. All good wishes for a healthier 2008.
