Last September Gordon Brown pledged last September that every hospital in England would be deep cleaned before the end of March in the war against superbugs. However Health Secretary Alan Johnson said yesterday only 50 have been cleaned so far. It was unclear whether he meant 50 individual hospitals of which there are 1500 in the country, or whether he meant 50 out the 170 hospital trusts. Either way there is still a long way to go. What do you think? Will this help and will it even be done on time?

It will be akin to painting the Forth road bridge. By the time it gets to a 100 hospitals or even fewer they will need to start again on the first one.

Why is it only NHS hospitals get infected? Do the private sector pay their cleaners more?
I don't know if private hospitals pay their cleaners more, Kwicky, but the fact is they employ enough cleaners to do the job, and they train them properly to do the job. The NHS doesn't. It cuts corners in the most vital areas. Don't get me started on this one again. Grrrrrr.
