Child with possible kidney disease
1 Answers
A child of 5 has been diagnosed with a urine infection that may be affecting her kidneys. She has been on antibiotics for some months now. Three times she has been taken to the outpatients of the local hospital
Each time a needle was prepared to insert into the vein which contained a dye. Each time she has screamed out and the needle was not inserted so the operation was aborted. Because you needs to be awake to see the flow of urine through the kidneys it presents a problem.
1. Is there an alternative test that can be used?
2. Is it possible to have a CT scan on the NHS for this.
3. Is it expensive to be done privately?
Thanks
