Chest pains
Yes its going to be another one of those questions lol
I have been experiencing really bad chest pains when I walk anywhere. Im ok walking around the house but when it comes to walking to and from my daughters school etc, I get a bad chest pain on the left after only about 10 yards. It cant be because Im rushing because I cant walk anywhere near fast enough to rush! I think it may be pressure but cant be from baby psuhing up because the head is well engaged and is no longer in my rib area (and what a relief that one is lol) The pain eases when Im back home and resting and usually goes away altogether. But this Im still getting an ache in my chest and Ive been sat down for a couple of hours now.
Has anyone experienced this in late pregnancy (Im 35 weeks)?

Chest pains shouldnt be left without checking hun.
Its very likely that you are just rather large (meant in a nice way) and as such there is little room for your lungs. Added to that the extra weight and the amount of blood your bosy is pumping around it puts a lot of extra work on your heart and lungs.
Im getting breathless a lot at just 28 weeks but have had no pains though.
Give them a call please and just ask xxx

Im home!
I didnt go to A&E, as Im 35 weeks they asked me to go straight to the delivery suite. They monitored baby, checked my blood pressure, temperature and gave me an ECG and all is fine. Although I will see a consultant for a follow up appointment, theres basically nothing I can do when I get the pains other than take a couple of paracetamol!
What was really worrying, was sat in the waiting room. There was a drink vending machine......out of order. There was a fan on the wall.......out of order. I asked where else I could get a drink from, was told theres a water dispenser round the corner and to help myself.......it was out of order. We was also kept waiting around for no reason at all. I said to my boyfriend, now do you see why I dont want the baby in hospital? lol
Anyway, Im home and all is well so now off to get some much need rest. Night night :)

Hello Psychick sweetie , pleased you are back home and ok , apart from non-the-wiser as to your pain. At least you now can rest assured that baby is fine , and that your ticker is ok. Let us know how you get on at the consultants if you can . Try to get some sleep honey . Thinking of you , hugs.

Sorry to hear you have had a bad time of it Psychick, if they happen again don't let them fob you off with paracetamol, I get very cross when in the late stages of pregnancy you don't feel well and doc's seem to think that as soon as they monitor you and tell you everything is all right with baby that you'll be miraculously cured and happy to go home. They need to listen to you as a person and what your symptoms are without automatically referencing the baby.
If you had turned up at hospital with chest pains any other time they would have done every possible test and examination, as soon as they see the bump every problem you have you get the "oh it's your hormones" treatment.!!
anyway rant over, good luck with bubba and take care, you know you better than anyone. x

fuzzy r u sure???? pmsl, that was a rant any of us preggy ladies would be proud of
Psy, Im so pleased that you called them and went in, even if they couldnt exactly pinpoint what it was Im sure it reassured you in some way. Dont blame you wanting a home birth if thats the condition of your maternity ward. The 2 options i have are both rated in the top in my areas so Im not worried.
I hope that you had a good nights sleep and that the pains do subside hun xx

Morning ladies, oops, afternoon lol Its seems Im getting very spoilt today and only just got up! Oh, and Im not going to be cooking dinner later either :)
I know what you mean fuzzybee about bump always coming first. I knew baby was fine as I still getting strong and regular movements like usual. Really I shouldve gone to triage in A&E but because Im so far in my pregnancy, they told me to go to the delivery suite. Had I been seen in A&E, I wouldve gone seen a lot quicker! I kept telling my boyfriend I was going to go down there because I was being kept waiting........good job it wasnt my heart isnt? I couldve had a heart attack before anything was done! The midwife did all the tests and then called down to A&E for the doctor to come and see me and she really was stumped her words were "I really dont know what to tell you" She is saying its pressure of everything pushing up on my diaphram. Fair enough, but surely that pressure should be eleviated now babys head has been engaged for the past two weeks and is well down in my cervix? Babys bottom isnt up under my ribs like it has been, its now down where my belly button is. So it has dropped quite a bit.
I was sat there over an hour when someone asked if I was being seen yet. I said no and she took me straight through! I had been kept waiting for no reason. I was kept waiting another 20 minutes, again for no reason. Yes, I definately dont want to go through labour there lol Oh, and as for choices red, my other option for hospitals here is Maidstone, Im sure youve all heard about that in the news recently!
Going for more baby shopping in a bit, domne at a steady pace of course, so that will make me feel better Im sure :)

Poor you psy, your not having the easiest final few weeks are you? lol.
Speaking of not wanting to have your baby at hospital, I'm terrified of having mine in hospital. I won't go into details but my friend had quite bad treatment when she had her baby through emergency c-sec at our local hospital and the staff were pretty incompitent, and at anti-natal classes the other night the midwife said that they used to get buckets of water and full kettles to fill the birthing pool because it took too long, but then health and safety stopped that, and she seemed inconvenienced by this!!! Obviously I'm glad h&s got involved but that makes me wonder what else they do or don't do to make life easier for staff. Then on the news yesturday they're talking about hospital maternal care being poor. Great!!!

lol mountainboo, I have been given the elasticated straps used to hold the monitors in place on my tummy. I have been told I am to keep them just in case I get monitored again!
I personally do want another hospital birth because of the experience I had last time. But others I know who had babies at the same hospital have had good experiences and would have no problem having anohter baby there. I think it really does depend on who you happen to get at the time and what else is going on i.e. if the delivery suite is busy or not.
If all goes to plan and I have this one at home, I will let you know which was the best experience and the pros and cons for both.

Morning red, you dont want to know! lol
Chest pains have eased over the weekend, but then I havent really done anything, but Ive now seem have a trapped nerve or something that is aggrivated everytime I try to lay down. Doesnt matter how I lay down, it hurts. So that and the PGP, Im really not comfy and getting even less sleep than before!
Bet you wished you hadnt asked now lol I see my midwife tomorrow and hoping and praying I can go early with this one, even if it means sacrificing the homebirth I want and being induced. Shes going to just laugh at me and say yeah right though isnt she? lol
How are you getting on?
