Hi , am a bit worried about my dad, he has been for b;lood tests

and i was wondering, why would the red blood cells be enlarged, he has been called to go to hospital at the end of the month and they told him they may need to do a lumber pucture test. What would they be hoping to find by doing this?
Sorry if none of this makes much sense, just worried.

normally due to a vitamin b12 or foliate deficiency

Thanks cazzz1975, just that my dad is 70, other wise sound, think he is worried, its something untoward! just been trawling the net, and i dont think its that serious, hope not!

I can understand alinic, the symptoms of a deficiency are quite worrying but treatable thankfully!

I hope your dad doesn't have to have a lumbar puncture alinic,it is a painful procedure to have done. I hope whatever is wrong with him is minor and he gets better soon.x
