Whenever I show any emotion, drink, cry, have a coffee or even think about it, my neck and upper front goes all blotchy, it is making my life a misery! Does anyone else suffer with this and has anyone tried hypnotherapy? You don't see anyone on TV with it, it is spoling my social life completely and I am in danger of becoming a recluse!!!

yes I suffer with it when I am extremely embarrassed or worked up about something. I sometimes get it when I drink but not all the time and when I am nervous like for a job interview. I have seen lots of people the same and it doesn't really worry me. I think the less you worry about it the less it appears. Cognitive behavioural therapy may help too.

Thanks very much, that really helps, I must just try not to think of it so much!
I can totally sympathise, I suffer with the red blotches in all the same circumstances as you. I walked into somebody's house the other day and I felt slightly uncomfortable because I didn't know them very well and the whole of my chest, neck and face totally burned up! I felt ridiculous! But it can happen even when i'm with close friends and family. If I just feel even very slightly uptight or uncomfortable ect I get blotchy/flushed. It can happen anytime at all to be honest. Drink/caffeine/emotion I will be covered in blotches. I do try to ignore it but it's hard. Some people recognise it as a form of stress which can be embarrassing. I put it down to alergies if someone mentions it i.e. I say I have a slight caffeine intolerance, how childish!
Tigwig is right.
You have to find a way of stopping yourself focussing on it. I'm sure there are many many more interesting things about you than the fact that your neck occasionally goes a bit pink and you should start to focus on them too.

Do you inspect other people to see what colour they are or if they have spots ? if you do, does it affect how you deal with them ? Maybe you should give other people the benefit of the doubt , they may not care that your neck is a bit pink sometimes.
Oh Jaggerfan please dont isolate yourself because of this, it is extremely common and remember all people have hang ups as it begins hold your head up and rise above it. Please also remember anyone who holds you as a friend will love you regardless. I had this for a good while and after accepting it as part of me it ceased to be i,portant and before i knew it , it had gone .

Well, What supportive replies, thank you so much, it has really helped me to know I am not alone, I am going to try and block it from my mind, thanks again, you are all stars!
I've been like that for years, whenever i am talking to someone that i don't know all that well (even work colleagues) my neck and face turn red.
Tried lots of different creams but nothing works, think you just got to try and keep calm, they say alcohol and smoking worsens these symptons but don't know?
