mamogram for the over 50's

when you were 50 did you get called automatically for a mamogram appointment or did you have to request it at your dr, how long after your 50th birthday was it? thanks

yes, i got called automatically. i can't remember how long after though. it all depends on your surgery and their alloted slot in the breastscreening programme. when their turn comes around, all the ladies of that age will be called. ring and ask your surgery when their turn is. it could be up to a year after your 50th birthday.

I got called automatically too - about 6 months after my 50th.

i rang the breast screening dept and it seems they do it on a rotation basis of the surgery of every 3 years, they checked mine and it wont be until october 2009!

I also got called automatically, and if I remember correctly it was about two days after my 50th birthday! A bit quick off the mark with me.

It's not the most pleasant thing in the world, but well worth having.
