I am 52 and haven't had a period for 2 years. Yesterday i started to bleed, it feels like a period, Is this anything to worry about or just normal menopausal symptoms?

Sorry I don't know the answer, but two years does seem like a very long time between bleeding. I would ask a doctor because it's too important to ignore.
hello katz. i think if it were me, i'd go and have a chat with the doctor to make sure it's nothing to worry about and put my mind at rest. although it's reckoned one year without a period is the end of it all (hoorah!!!!) i believe 2 years and then a bleed is probably still ok, and at 52 aswell. maybe if you were late 50's or so, and had an unexpected bleed it could be more significant.
as i say, if it were me, i'd speak to the doctor. let's hope it is your very last one. good luck.
I had a bleed fourteen months after what I thought was my last period and my doctor sent me to a gynaecologist who gave me a hysteroscopy( scope that examines the inside of the womb).Nothing was found and I haven't had another bleed. I asked the gynaecologist at the time what would they be looking for and he mentioned polyps, vaginal infection fibroids and possibly cancer. I really think you should go to see your doctor as notafish and ethandron have suggested just to put your mind at rest, it's probably nothing but I know how you are feeling. It really is very important to have regular smears at this stage of our lives as well.
did you know that here in england the regular smear tests drop down from every 3 years to every 5 years between the ages of 50 and 64, and stop altogether after 65? i'm sure they know what they're doing.......!!??!!
That is disgraceful ethandron, probably introduced by a cost cutting male moron. Here in Wales we are screened every three years from age 20 to 64 years after that you are not invited but can request a scan if you wish.
I had a look on answerbank yesterday to see if anyone had the same problem as me and was interested to see your question. I started a period this weekend the first in nearly 3 years (I think). This morning I phoned my doctor and she is sending me for an ultra sound scan and also making an appointment for me to see a gynaecologist. Both appointments will be within the next month. Needless to say I am worried sick but I know I've done the right thing by phoning my doc. Good luck katzwhiskaz and good health!
hiya. my mum has been having the same problem, she hadnt had her period for a while a then started to bleed, the doc said that it is a symptom of the menopause. she went on different hormonal tablets to keep it away.
it turned out to be something else. not serious like but as everybody is different i dont want to say something incase im wrong!
id say go to ur GP or ring the gynecological ward.
hope ive helped?
