What is the best exercise for middle-aged spread. I walk plenty, I do cruches, I eat a healthy diet and have lost weight recently so its not through over-indulging. Somehow cannot remove the spare tyre that i gained when I hit 45 - can anyone advise on the best exercise to help this please? TIA

How about some swimmng to help tone and some yoga an pilates for core stength and posture.
You need to do weights, the more lean muscle fibre your body has, the more bodyfat will be used as fuel.

Doing sit ups will not get rid of mid section fat. Also, if you've had children, (presuming you're female), then pregnancy can cause the muscles to become weak, plus where the skin has stretched to accomodate the growing baby, you may have poor elasticity.

It can be possible to lose this area or improve it, but it's not easy and most people aren't willing to do the amount of exercise necessary to see the reults.

Also, you might want to consider, that if you are menopausal or have been through it already, then it's quite common for women to accumulate fat in that area.
hi Dollie
iv gone through the change from the age of 35 surgically, i was always a size 8 - 10 but now a 12, i try to keep toned by hula hooping,(it's such a cheap exercise) its great fun, you should try it.

they can make a good job of it, too. one friend of mine had liposuction, and although she found the after effects painful, she's dropped several skirt sizes. Looks fab.
I wouldn't hesitate in getting a bit of lipo, if I had the cash sitting there, I'd get it done tomorrow.
I've had Lipo twice, very pleased with the results. I highly reccommend it and the pain isn't as bad as you'd think.
