I do a lot of running, and I heard that if you run on hard surfaces like a road, then the impact can affect your joints in a way that makes you shorter. Sounds like a load of rubbish I know, but I've heard it about other things too, eg. weightlifting.

19891988, your right about the weightlifting, it compresses your spine etc.

You never see 6' 00''' plus weightlifters do you?

As for running not sure, but it must have some impact over the years.
I remember being told by sime RAF engineers that there is a limit of 3 times a fighter pilot can eject before they are grounded as it had a compressing effect on the spine so certain impacts (whether immediate or over time) must cause problems.

Mind you, maybe if they have to eject over 3 times it may not be a very good sign!
