i want to be half the girl i am!

after 40-odd years of being overweight, I just feel that now is the time to finally get fit and lose weight.
But i really don't know where to start!
Weight watchers? slimming world? tesco diets? Paul Mckenna? Or am I better off doing it myself?
I am on a very tight udget, so can't buy fancy things, and I can't abide ready meals or processed food, like the w.w. ones i've seen.
I would appreciate any advice x

Like you ive always been overweight and have lost 5stone, 4.5stone and 4 stone going to various classes over the years (i think ive tried them all!) and each time the weight goes back on i go up heavier than before. Although i am so not happy with my weight i am resigned to the fact that without a life long struggle i am just destined to be big. I go to the gym and swim regularly and the majority of the time i eat healthily and am very rarely ill. Sorry im waffling now! in answer to your question personally i would say use your money on healthier food and do it yourself. You need to come up with a lifelong eating plan - not one that you will forget about once you stop going to class each week. Im sure you, like most of us, know what you should and should not eat. If you find losing weight difficult, then a structured class with eating plans may benefit.
It's equally important to exercise as well. It isn't enough to just do Cardiovascular exercise, you need to do resistance as well. The more lean muscle you have, the more bodyfat will be used as fuel and it will help to tone and shape you up as you lose the weight.

thank you all for your encouragment and positivity. I too, had resigned myself to the fact that I will always be big. My mum and dad always have been and my brother struggles to keep trim.
There is no way I want my children to follow in my footsteps and they all eat healthily by choice, thank goodness.
I just feel that I am not a very good role model and would love to take them swimming etc. (something my hubby does instead!)
Plus, both my parents have developed diabetes in the last few years - it's like looking into a crystal ball!
I adore fresh fruit and veg, fish and pulses. I rarely eat red meat and wouldn't dream of eating anything like a pie or a sausage!
I'll have a healthy tea and then ruin it by eating tons of chocolate! Oh, and I love white crusty bread, with real butter! AAAArgh!

I agree that Slimming World is a really fab diet - it's very healthy and filling- you can still eat chocolate but it has to be limited and counted as a 'syn' . This month's magazine ie especially inspiring
You know exactly where you're going wrong - no-one can eat loads of choc, white crusty bread and butter & not expect to put weight on. It all depends what you want the most - personally I prefer to be slim even though I love all the food mentioned above!!

Have you looked at an organic pill that contain a filler so you body tells you its full so you don't get the urge to eat as much,
