What can i do about my teeth...train racks...braces?
3 Answers
I was suppose to get train tracks a few years ago on the top and bottom of my mouth but my teeth never bothered me then and the thought of having 4 teeth taken out answered the question...no.
Now the teeth on the bottom of my mouth are over lapping noticably and infact one that should be the two at the front is now moving to the centre, how can i stop it? i'm not really fussed about the top teeth as the only probelm is my two front teeth stick out sllightly (not really noticable).
Is it possible to get something done to the bottom only as ive heard they always do top and bottom as your teeth move in accordance to the other set?
I dont really want train tracks and wonder if they could simply take some teeth out of the bottom as it is so crammed to prevent any further movement?

You really need to see an orthodontist who can advise you on the possible treatment options. Simply extracting teeth is not normally advisable as any resultant tooth movement is uncontrolled, and may actually make the situation worse. Most orthodontic treatment is now carried out using fixed 'train-track' appliances, as they produce accurate controlled tooth movement. If you are concerned about the aeathetics of the appliance, there are three alternatives:
1) Tooth-coloured brackets and archwires
2) Lingual appliances (placed on the tongue side of the teeth
3) Clear retainers placed over the teeth eg 'Invisalign'
An orthodontist would be able to discuss all of these options with you
Hope this helps.
