Hair Loss after birth
Hi
Had my wee girl 18 weeks ago and my hair is falling out... a lot
I'm finding it everywhere. Its making a fine layer over all carpets, having to clean the hoover head once a week because my hair has blocked it up so much, its all over my daughter. I just cant stop it.
I got my hair cut after I had the baby thinking that will get rid of all the dead ends and freshen it up after pregnancy.
Is anyone else experiencing this? I brush it once a day when I get read and thats it for the day, i wash it every few days

I put it down to stress as my baby's been ill since birth and the fact that I've been dying my hair for a couple of years now. but it does seem odd that we're both going through the same thing!
My hair loss isn't noticeable (so far anyway) does yours look like you've lost a lot? Is yours falling out from the root or just breaking? mines coming out at the roots.
I think I read something about some women's hair falling out a bit whie they were pregnant but I don't think mine did, it felt/grew different during the pregnancy but I didn't notice it falling out until recently.
Have you talked to anyone about this - HV/GP/Hairdresser?
I'd love to know why this is happening and if there is anything I can do to stop it ,so if you find out let me know!
take care

hi girls, this is totally normal after pregnancy as your hair and nails etc all grow super fast when your pregnant its normal for your hair to come out quite a bit as your body gets back to normal etc. if your concerned tho or you have patches where your hair is falling out i would go to your dr and ask advice. hope this helps!!
hey
My cousin is a hairdresser and I spoke to her about colouring my hair lighter, this was before I had my baby. She said I would be best to go darker once I had the baby as a lot of women suffer from hair loss and if I was to go lighter the peroxide wouldn't do it any good.
So I went darker when I got my hair cut. Just a wash in one that lasts for about 8 weeks or so.
That was all she said. I'll need to speak to her again.
Mines isn't noticable, unless your in my house, near my baby and you see everywhere is covered in it. I was driving the other day and there was even a couple of my hairs on the windscreen (on the outside) of the car!!!
I think in a few weeks or so when all the hairs start to grow in I'll end up with lots of random spikey hairs on the top of my head. Its not like I'm bald... yet!!!
Next time I see my HV I'll ask about it.
I would say I have a lot of stress in my life at the moment, not relating to the baby but been waiting to move house for the past 2 and a half months and keep getting told it'll be any day, so everything is packed up and we're living out a suitcase in a bedsit.
I'm just hoping once everything settles down it'll get back to normal, I also just got my period so maybe once all the hormones settle the hair loss will reduce
My friend also had a baby 27 weeks ago and she to is losing hair. She's done the same as me and had a lot chopped off
