I always had a fear of needles in my gums but was fine as just wanted the pain gone.
I think it's more if they are impacted or doing muliple ones then general is more considered.
Am guessing they are sure they can get it out easily in the chair hence why they are doing it quickly that way.
I had to go on a waiting list for all the others out under general and ended up paying to get it sooner or would have been a very long wait.
They pulled mine out in the chair to try and help an infection I had at the time.

my daughter (22) was told last night at dentist he needed to take one of hers out but she dare not let him - even though she is suffering badly. I had all 4 of mine out in hospital and im glad i did. Be good to hear how you get on and what you thought of it afterwards so that i can (hopefully)reassure her. im sure it will be fine. Good luck.
ah bless you, well in the 60's it was a horror story, general anesthetic, bruises and pain and 2 weeks in Barnet General, had one out last year with a local dentist, it took about 5 mins and was painless and no blood or anything, I was so surprised and pleased, you'll be OK. Obviously it all depends whether the tooth is impacted with or without divergent roots.
I had all 4 of mine taken out while I was awake, it was horrific! My nose felt like it was going to break and when I got out I threw up and then passed out. The sorest bit for me was when the anasthetic wore off and half my head had the pins and needles sensation! If you're only getting one out you'll be fine, i think it was just as I had 4 out! Hope you've had it out by now and are ok, let us know! x
Hey all,
