Does anyone know what this may be...I've got an agonisingly achy leg. It's been achy on and off for a couple of years but nothing really painful. But yesterday it was throbbing and again today where I was nearly in tears. I have a varicose vein on that certain leg too. I've taken paracetamol and the pain has finally subsided but now I have pins and needles. Does anyone know what this could be please? Thanks

joey you have to wear a tuber grip support on your leg,its a dull ache i know i have suffered from them, elevate your leg as often as you can,go to the docs and get it checked out and try to push for a op to get it removed!!!

Puddicat, I do hope you mean the vein, not the leg. :)
could be sciatica.. there is a pain down into the leg, which travels below the knee, and may involve the foot. There may be numbness and there may be weakness of the lower leg muscles. try some .anti-inflammatory drugs..
You really do need to have it checked out by a doctor. Does sound like varicose veins tho. Do you hava sensation of water running down your leg??

Thanks all. I went to the doctor on Friday and she said it was due to the varicose vein on my leg. It had become inflamed whether that was caused by a bang or by a lot of time on my feet due to Christmas shopping, I don't know. She gave me some Ibuprofen gel which seems to have settled it down. She said that I should keep my legs up but it is Christmas and I do have a 7 year old and 5 month old so I haven't really had chance to do that! She said if it does get worse I could use lycra support tight things and there is an op you can have to tie it off or something or other!! ARGH! doesn't sound nice. THanks anyway.
