suntan lotion smell in travel agent

I was in a travel agent earlier today and there was a faint smell of suntan lotion. I put it down to my imagination, but when I was walking out, they have a blow heater above the door and I swear the smell was stronger as I passed under it.

Surely they're not piping hawiian tropic in the system to lure a sale???

They probably are you know, I know they use a similar trick in some supermarkets, wafting out the smell of freshly baked bread!

I knew about the bread in supermarkets....but suntan lotion? That's made me laugh!

omg i smell it too every time i walk into thompson!! they MUST either have to apply it to the staff or smear it somewhere on purpose!! it completely reminds me of holidays �)

That's a bit daft IMO, if you're going to book a holiday, you're going to do it anyway, whether the place smells of coconut or not.

yeah that does seem a bit weird...especially if you're going in to book a ski holiday!

it must just encourage people more, get them in the holiday mood, imagine themselves on the beach sipping cocktails...and make them spends lots of money :)

I'd be tempted when/if I next go in there to say really loud "What is that smell? It's gross and making me feel sick. I'm leaving"
