Jade's pain

Odd question probably. In the news it mentions that Jade Goody is in considerable pain and that she will have a pouch sewn into her wedding dress for drugs. When cancer is in the early stages, it is usually painless, that's why it often goes undetected. What actually causes the terrible pain that people suffer from later on? Is it because a tumour has grown so large it presses on nerves? Can anyone explain? Poor girl, I feel so sorry for her and anyone else going through such horror.

i am interested in your question, horselady (and trying to ignore some answers).

My aunty died at 44 of cancer, about 35 years ago. She chose to die at home and the doctors told my mum there were some very strong drugs for her, towards the end, when the pain is unbearable.

Sadly her husband was a horrible man who, after letting my mum nurse her for weeks, refused to let any of her family visit at the end. (We found out he had another woman in the house)
My mum managed to get into the house the day before she died and refused to leave her bedside. When she died the next night, and the doctor finally came, he (the doctor) was very upset and asked why he hadn't been called? He said she must have suffered intolerably, and couldn't believe she hadn't had any morphine.
It is something my poor mum lives with daily. Wondering how much pain she was actually in.

My Aunty was a very good, kind, intelligent lady.

dolly-pond, cat murphy. Bit over the top and totally inappropriate and innaccurate, cancer has no barriers and terminal cancer need not be painful. I am an atheist, so I have no problem with the dilema of cancer predilection, but had I believed in a God, then I would have a problem. I have sympathy with all cancer sufferers, but now immunised to those sufferers with th constant media and AB coverage of Jade Goody.

horselady no need to apologise at all, my sadness now extends to the very sad people who make horrible comments, i understand jade hasnt always had a good press, but why come on such a thread if they have so much hate in their hearts.Surely the last place such bitter minds would look is in body and soul.

People like dolly pond and cat murphy are to be pitied, can you imagine what rotten liuves they must have to be so bitter, hateful anf twisted towards another human being ( ANY human being) who is going through such an awful experience.
I didn't personally think Jade Goody was much of an assett to society, but God she trumps you two uevolved monstrousities any day of the week.
I truly pity anyone who has to be near you on a daily basis, your husbands need a medal (or mental treatment).
