Hi. I woke up in the night on tuesday and my right foot was reaaally itchy. Eventually managed to get to sleep, and didnt think anything more of it.
Noticed today when i moved my foot side to side, that it felt kind of sore. Had a look, and it has reaaaallly swollen up. Right the way over the bridge of my foot, and alot round my ankle. There is a red mark, slighty raised, and about the same size as a fingernail, not sore to touch or anything, not obviously a bite from its appearance (ie not a centre to it).
It was swollen this morning, and it seems to have got worse in the last few hours.
I have taken an antihistamine tablet, but wondered if anyone had any other suggestions what to do?
May i also say that i always enjoy your answers. Usually good common sense, and the rest of the time, when i dont agree with you, at least i giggle about how upset other people get!
Don't want to worry you but a guy at work had an unexplained swelling of his hand, and within a few days it had spread all up his arm. He ended up in hospital for a while.
That said, it is probably nothing serious, but why not ring NHS direct and speak to a nurse - they can assess and advise better than anyone on here.
My opinion of NHS Direct is Ziltch!!!!
NHS Direct cost 139,000 to set up, to take the pressure off GP surgeries and A and E depts..
Every call costs 25.
60% of calls referred to GP&A&E.
Service spent 225,000 translating materials into Loatian and Cherokee, which are hardly spoken.
schutz........I get about 2right a year and I already have used up those two, so please don't put any money on me for the rest of the year LOL. Shower, now, dressing gown on, packet of crisps that I have hidden in my study then going to watch "Mistresses" which I recorded from last night.
Goodnight form me......................oh! and thanks.
Kira I don't want to worry you but it could be a DVT, I've got one and had the same symptoms as you ,I went to the docs and he sent me up to the hospital for an ultrasound scan and they found a clot behind my knee, I'm not allowed to walk much or do anything strenuous in case the clot dislodges and gets into my lung, I have to inject myself in the tummy every day with warfarin. I really don't want to cause you any alarm but I never dreamed that it was a blood clot and I'm so glad I got it checked out. I'm not saying this is what you've got but better to be safe than sorry, just ring your gp especially if you're going on a plane soon. Good luck x
My foot became swollen about 2.5 years ago and has never gone down. Don't know what caused it. Maybe it was a long walk I had to take. It had a very mild ache in it that went after a few days but the swelling has never gone. My BF calls me club foot.
Pleased to report the swelling has gone down somewhat. I do now apppear to have something recognisable as an ankle again! Hurrah!
Cant take another antihistamine till i get back from work as they are drowsy ones, and i have to drive. But back on them tonight.
