Apart from the size, 300x12mm/230x12mm what is the difference between Bikehut Hardened Steel Shackle Bike Lock and the same with extender cable. What is the extender cable used for.

Maybe to put the lock through the wheel(s) as well as around the frame?

No difference. Extender cable to secure bike to solid object.

NB not concrete bollard as per David Cameron.
