throat problem

this is going to sound ridiculous but here it goes anyway.............i have this weird problem it feels like a huge hair stuck in the back of my tounge and going down my throat.  it feels like this all the time.  i am constantly brushing my teeth and clearing my throat but nothing helps.  does anyone have any ideas what this could be?  its really bothering me.

It could be condition called "Hair tongue" my nephew's had it for years but you must see you GP as he/she can advise you ok.

Does it feel like a tickle in the back of your throat?  Does it cause you to cough or clear your throat a lot to get rid of that "tickly" feeling?  Could be sinus drainage or post nasal drip.  Again, your doctor is the best place to start.

In the US one can be diagnosed with "Black hairy tongue".  This is a condition where one or more black "threads" or hairs can grown on the surface of the tongue and reach several inches in length if not treated.  The treatment is a simple mouth rinse using a rinse high in alcohol content, repeated for several times a day for about a week.  Caused by a fungus... but as always, best to check with your physician...
