Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has had numbness in their foot that has lasted over a week. I was at my niece's communion on 16 May and had a pair of strappy sandals on all day - I think I stood from 9am until 11.30pm when I went home. My left foot has been numb down one side since and I am assuming that my strappy sandals became too tight as it was quite a warm day and my feet swelled. However, I am wondering why it has only happened to one foot. I have no pain in my foot and I can move my toes. It feels like when you have been the dentist and the anaesthetic is wearing off and your face feels funny to touch. I am terrified that it may be something medical. Has anyone had this? If so, what was it and what did you do about it? Thanks.
This sounds as though you might have a problem in the spinal nerve distribution of L5 S1 region which could be a slipped disc( herniation ) and it would be wise to see your GP as an MRI scan might provide the diagnosis.
Spondylolithsis is another possibility.
Best to get your good self to the doctors asap then he can make the diagnosis then treat you accordingly. Could be all kinds of things including those suggested. Yet do not panic or second guess- see the expert first please. Good luck + keep us in the loop.
ive had similar to that for the last year, ever since my daughter was born. its not as numb as it was but a whole patch on the top of my foot feels dead.
The doctor really wasnt that helpful (but did do blood tests for some reason, which were fine) so once it started to improve, very very slowly, i have left it.
