I keep getting sore throats which end up in me loosing my voice and then to a cough that is never ending...
It always take forever to go away with all different medication my GP gives me...

Iam just fed up or getting it so often and it feels like they never go away, anyone have any tips on how to prevent or make it better?

Do you smoke? are you allergic to anything? Are you asthmatic?
Apparently a frequent cause of sore throats and coughs can be something which surprised me - acid reflux, especially at night, when you may not always be aware of it. I had the problem and was disbelieving, but an investigation showed it to be true... Some Gaviscon Advance helped, but ultimately Lansaprozole did the trick..

This may not be true for you of course, but if it persists maybe you need to get your doc to think laterally about what other causes it may be,such as this or tonsil problems.
If you drink alcohol when you have a reflux problem you will cough also, I have found that I can't drink Vodka since developing a reflux problem, but Bacardi causes no problems at all. (other brands of white rum are available)
I was prescribed Lanzaprozole too which helped.

Yes I do smoke and I do have asthma (stupid I know) but I have been having bad throats before I began smoking and before I was told I had asthma.

My doctor just brushes me off and gives me some antibiotics...
suDB..you asked the question on Tuesday morning, 4get asked the right questions and you got back to us on Thursday afternoon. I assumed that your sore throat had killed you.

ooops sorry, didn't check my mail only just now and realised I had some answer do apologise :)
SuDFB....you are forgiven.......4get is quite correct.

Stop smoking and I bet you take inhalers and that is the cause of your sore throats.

nop I don't have an inhaler as my asthma isnt that strong, maybe stopping smoking will help but its been this day even before I took up smoking...
