Sqad can you possibly through some ideas about here.

Mother in law was taken to A&E the other night (shes 70) suffering from severe headaches, back and neck pain. She was vomitting too.

She has felt unwell for a good few days, thinking at first she had slept in a draft and got a stiff neck.

All sorts of blood tests were done, test for swine flu, scans of brain etc. I think she has also been tested for meningitis

They sent her home saying that the only thing they could think was that she had bruising to brain following a knock to head last week. They gave her strong pain killers and altered her heart and BP drugs to allow strong pain relief.

2 days on and doc is coming out again. She is still in terrible pain.

Mr CRX has just spoken to her on the phone (we are too far away to see her, though his sister is with her) and he says her speech is slurred too. She has no energy and no wish to get up and move about.

Doctors dont seem to have any clue.

redcrx....sorry to hear that....was the brain scan an MRI scan.

2 things come to mind:

1) Intracerebral bleed
2) Subdural haematoma (less likely?

thanks for your reply sqad, Im a bit vague as we are just getting info via sister in law. All she said was it was a "brain scan" but will try and find out.
We are obviously very worried and due to go away this afternoon for a long weekend, though will be contactable. Am wondering if we should send kids with 4getmenot and go down to MILs, though not sure what help we can be.
red......MRI Brain scan is CRUCIAL.....keep me informed and try and have a nice weekend.

Sqad,
doc has been and said that she has concussion. hes removed all her painkillers, told her to get up and about (even though that hurts her head more) and she will be fine after a few days.
Thanks red........hope all is well.
