I had a crown fitted today, too (my second) but it doesn't hurt. it may feel a bit odd, but it shouldn't hurt.

I suggest you take some painkillers and call the dentist in the morning if it's still sore.

Thank you for reply ..... by odd does it feel as though it doesnt belong and a throbbing feeling?
it doesn't hurt at all, it just feels a bit big. but I recall the last one felt the same and it felt okay within a day or so.

I'm sure it shouldn't be throbbing though..
I agree with sara.....I had 2 crowns fitted both at once but had no pain....just felt big and seemed difficult to talk normally......ring the dentist tomorrow if you still have pain....
the bruising can cause a dull ache for up to three days, if your dentist is good you have no worries.

Thank you both I will do x
What's a crown?
You can expect some pain because the nerves in the crowned tooth will have received a mauling during fitting.

If it hasn't gone in a couple of days, go back and see your dentist.
I got one on Sunday - it hurt till Tuesday but has now calmed down. As Any says, the gum and roots undergo a right hammering while it's all being done. Nurofens should help.

Hi Just an update, it looks like its going to be ok seems to have settled down... I have been taking painkillers, but the throbbing has stopped, and although I am treating it very careful, it definitely feels a lot better, but thank you for all your replies...it does help to discuss these things when its happening to you.
